Paint on 3D Models In Real-Time

Fractal Design Detailer is a stunning new graphics application that allows users to paint on the surface of 3D models in real-time. For 3D artists, Detailer bridges the gap between 2D and 3D, letting them readily create colored, textured and rendered objects for use in image-editing composition. "Detailer frees 2D designers from having to worry about the complexities of 3D-scene creation and lets them focus on illustrating individual objects which then become elements of their 2D artwork," said Fractal CEO, Mark Zimmer. Start by importing 3D models or using any of Detailer's built-in 3D primitives such as spheres, blocks and cones. Once imported, models can be given color, relief, shininess, reflectivity or glow maps. Models can be rotated and illuminated with comprehensive lighting controls. Maps can be resized, selectively hidden, or adjusted a variety of ways. Detailer eliminates the time-consuming back-and-forth import and export between modelers and image-editors that 3D designers have had to deal with.
