Textbooks Add Multimedia Components

To complement its textbooks, South-Western Educational Publishing is developing a wide range of multimedia components including CD-ROMs, videodiscs, videotapes and software (Mac or DOS). The products will reflect the firm's new mission: "Changing the Way the World Learns." Already available are interactive titles for accounting, economics, keyboarding and science. For example, Economics, a complete package for high school classrooms, offers a CD-ROM with a tutorial, simulation and video clips correlated to every chapter; Internet activities and a dedicated Web page; and "Micr'Exams" for computer-based testing. Another title, Century 21 Keyboarding and Information Processing (Sixth Edition) ships with three software programs: MicroType Pro, MLS Century 21 Multimedia and Century 21 Document Checker. The last one checks students' documents for errors, building a cumulative record of scores for grading. South-Western Educational Publishing, Cincinnati, OH, (800) 824-5179, www.swpco.com.
