Free Civil Rights CD Features Whoopi
Whoopi Goldberg has gone interactive to help teach American high school students about civil rights. Star of the Rob Reiner film Ghosts of Mississippi, Goldberg serves as host in a dynamic new companion CD-ROM entitled ìCivil Rights: then + now.î
Set in a hip/hop urban virtual world designed to both entertain and educate, ìthen + nowî takes students on an interactive timeline through the history of the Civil Rights movement. One hears first-hand accounts about the people and events that helped change history from such influential individuals as Rosa Parks, Yolanda King, Colin Powell and Myrlie Evers Williams.
A host of motion picture and television stars including LL Cool J, Edward James Olmos, Ming Na Wen, Chuck D., Chris Rock and Malcolm Jamal Warner are also on the CD-ROM, discussing what it means to be a minority and the discrimination they have faced in their own lives.
