NovaNET Delivers Courseware Online

NovaNET Learning, Inc., (NLI), formerly known as University Communications, maintains and supports NovaNET, a computer-based learning system providing online access to almost 10,000 hours of self-paced instruction in more than 150 subject areas.

NovaNET currently serves over 500 sites in the U.S. including middle and high schools, job training programs, colleges and universities, correctional institutions, community organizations and private businesses. In 1996, the service delivered over 2.5 million hours of instruction to subscribers.

Courseware can be delivered as prepackaged offerings with diagnostic and prescriptive testing, or customized. Among the subjects covered are ESL, spelling, science, math, social studies, electronics, engineering, job search skills, consumer economics and music.

NovaNET also links students to an international community of learners via e-mail, bulletin boards and live ìchats.î The service supports a variety of technical configurations, from stand-alone PCs to local and wide-area networks.
