Learn Music On the Mac

Music Lessons v. 3.0, from MiBAC Music Software, has undergone an extensive upgrade. The software requires no previous musical training, and is designed to help students ages eight and older understand how music really works.

Twelve drills that emphasize music fundamentals include Note Reading, Circle of Fifths, Major/Minor Scales, Jazz Scales and Intervals, among others. The Fast Answer Checking and custom drill creation features both reinforce skills learned, while the program's extensive help functions let you create your own help files, with accompanying graphics. Students' progress report files can be viewed and printed with ease, aiding assessment.

Music Lessons supports Apple's QuickTime Musical Instruments; MIDI Manager; OMS; General MIDI; user defined synthesizer patch lists, guitar and wind controllers; MIDI input with QuickTime output; and pitch input devices. An earlier version of the program is available for Windows. MiBAC Music Software, Northfield, MN, (800) 645-3945, www.mibac.com.
