Learning Advantage Launch Pad

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Designed for students in grades K-3, Learning Advantage’s Launch Pad gives kids the skills necessary to take on difficult topics. Students place one of the 20 or so Lesson Cards that come with each module onto the unit’s electronic touch-pad surface and press the Launch icon. They are then rewarded with an entertaining and interactive learning experience. Modules include a Reading Readiness Program, Basic Phonics Program, Advanced Phonics Program and K-2 Mathematics (coming soon).

Kids get the same "interactivity" associated with more sophisticated CD-ROM-based learning titles, without the keyboard commands, computer crashes and mouse manipulation. Clear audio commands and feedback make each lesson lively and fun, while teacher-written lesson content is based on state and national standards. Three learning modes provide immediate reinforcement. Learn teaches kids the concepts and skills of each lesson; Explore provides self-paced, self-directed learning activities to acquire skills; and Quiz assesses learners’ skills while retaining scores for student assessment.

While my three-year-old son is a bit younger than the intended age group, he nevertheless enjoyed using the Launch Pad. After only a few tries, he was happily turning the unit on, launching a lesson, changing lesson cards and quizzing himself — without any help from dad! I heartily recommend the Launch Pad for teachers and parents of Pre-K to 3rd grade kids who want to give their youngsters a tool for taking charge of learning.
