New Wireless Networks Offer Ethernet Compatibility

Lucent’s new ORiNOCO enterprise wireless networks offer 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernetnetwork compatibility for indoor and outdoor enterprise wireless networks. Thesesystems allow students and faculty to roam throughout a large building orcampus and connect wirelessly to their network, which provides full access toe-mail, important files and the Internet, all at Ethernet network performancelevels.

ORiNOCO is now available with 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernetconnections for the new AP-1000 Access Point for enterprise wirelessnetworking, and for the ROR-1000/COR-1100 Remote/Central Outdoor Router systemfor wireless point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless networking.Lucent’s unique two-slot architecture allows the use of two radio cards in eachaccess point, and provides twice the capacity of other Wi-Fi wireless accessdevices. These products are fully Wi-Fi certified, ensuring interoperability withall other Wi-Fi compliant products.

Also added to ORiNOCO is a 10/100 Mbit/s connection to itsOutdoor Router line of outdoor point-to-pointand point-to-multipoint wireless networks. The ROR-1000 system has new andimproved software that can boost real-world performance by over 20%. LucentTechnologies, Murray Hill, NJ, www.lucent.com.
