Designed for use in both high schools and colleges, the CD-ROM is the first in MPR's Work-Wise series, a set of multimedia case studies built on both academic and industry standards. The series showcases the potential of project-based learning to engage students in challenging academic material.

Global Trade 1.0 immerses students in the workplace of a virtual employer: an athletic footwear company called Sprinter Sh'es. The students' assignment is to recommend the best place for Sprinter to locate a new manufacturing facility outside the country and the best route for transferring the product to the firm's U.S. distribution center. Students explore eight potential trade routes, using interactive tools like maps, video clips, newspapers, economic data, periodic e-mails, and software that enables students to complete a multimedia report.
