Introducing a New Department - DigitalPublishing

With more and more educational material becoming available online, as well as on CD and DVD-ROM, it’s only inevitable that the tried-and-true cornerstone of educational material, the textbook, would find its way into the digital age. As we are beginning to see, textbooks no longer need to be static blocks of paper.

We are at the advent of digital publishing. Print-on-demand services will allow educators to custom-print textbooks to include only the chapter they need, saving paper and preventing the back problems faced by generations of textbook-laden students. Even more possibilities exist in the realm of e-books, which can provide students with an interactive learning experience, while giving teachers the tools to add their own notes to assigned readings. The possibilities are limitless, and we are only at the beginning.

With all that in mind, T.H.E. Journal would like to introduce its new quarterly department, Digital Publishing. Here we will provide readers with the latest news and technology relating to e-books, online and digital publishing, and print-on-demand as it relates to education.
