News Briefs - BellSouth Quality in the Classroom Teaching Initiative

The BellSouth Foundation has launched the BellSouth Quality in the Classroom Teaching Initiative, online at www.bellsouthfoundation.org/grants/si/qc.html, which is a five-year program designed to assist teachers across the company's nine-state territory with professional development, recruitment and retention. For the $10 million initiative, BellSouth has partnered with local educational institutes and nonprofit organizations in each state to design and implement programs that meet the needs of the individual communities. The programs will focus on teacher preparation - specifically by developing teacher skills and knowledge in math, science and technology - and improving working conditions.
