MN Schools Adopt WriteToLearn for State Assessments

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Students at two Minnesota high schools are using Pearson's WriteToLearn to develop writing and reading comprehension skills.

Dunwoody Academy High School, a new technical charter school in north Minneapolis, and Robbinsdale Cooper High School are using the Web-based learning tool to help students build literacy skills and prepare for the state's new writing assessment.

Using the tool, students can practice essay writing and summarization skills while having their work measured by Pearson's Knowledge Analysis Technologies (KAT) engine. The two implementations follow the launch of WriteToLearn 5.0, which debuted with a number of new capabilities, including text-to-speech capabilities that allow students to have reading passages read aloud to them; an added dictionary and spot word translation ability; and a new teacher comment feature for assessments.
