California-based K-12 technology company SchoolCity has announced the availability of the '08 version of California SchoolCharts, a state accountability reporting tool first released by the company in 2006. The new version is being made available to all educators in the state free of charge through December 2008.

According to the announcement, the newest installment of SchoolCharts includes nine years of historical data, as well as newly released California STAR, CELDT, and CAHSEE state assessments. The 2008 version also includes Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and Academic Performance Index (API) results for 2007-2008.

"Our goal in building SchoolCharts was to simply help educators use data to inform instruction and make effective decisions," said Vaseem Anjum, SchoolCity's CEO, in a prepared statement. "Providing SchoolCharts at no cost until December 31 is our way of putting our money where our mouth is."

According to SchoolCity, the release was timed to meet California's embargo requirements for educational data, while still providing the assets for use during the new school year. California educators can sign up for a free account through the company's Web site.
