Iowa District Adopts Web-based Collaboration Service
Montezuma Community Schools in Iowa has adopted a SaaS-based approach
to online collaboration. The small district, with three schools and
fewer than 500 students, recently implemented technology from School
Web Lockers to handle a variety of online needs, including file
sharing and other collaborative tasks, as well as storage.

Texas District Leads Students into Immersive Educational Gaming
Spring Independent School District in Texas is bringing gaming into
the classroom. The district this week announced that it's signed on
with Tabula Digita to provide mathematics-focused educational gaming
for students in nine of its middle schools and high schools, as well
as its SMART math and science center.

Florida Ed Group Partners with Online Video Sharing, Web-based Homework Service
The Council for Educational Change (CEC) in Florida has announced a
partnership with Canadian online educational service provider Etraffic
Press. The partnership will support Etraffic's online video sharing
and homework help services designed for K-12 students, SchoolWAX and
SchoolWAXTV.

Arizona District Increases Bandwidth for eLearning, Professional Development
Florence Unified School District in Arizona reported recently that
it's increased its network bandwidth by 50 times to help bring Web-
based learning materials into classrooms and to support other
electronic initiatives. The district signed on with Trillion Partners
to handle the broadband implementation.

New Alliance To Research Gaming in Math and Science Education
Video games have always had and probably will always have their
detractors. But there's a growing movement in academia and industry
recognizing the value of this medium as an educational tool both
inside and outside the classroom. This week, eight colleges and
universities added their inertia to this movement, joining with
Microsoft to launch a new alliance to study the benefits of gaming for
math and science instruction and STEM equity.

K-12 Online School Adopts Angel LMS
Internet Academy, an online K-12 public school (the first in
Washington), has adopted the Angel Learning Management Suite to
replace its previous system, which had been developed internally. The
school cited the need for enhanced collaborative capabilities,
standards alignment, student progress tracking, and automated
communications as major reasons for the switch.
