ILC 2008: 21st Century Skills, Social Networking, Hands-On Classes Highlight New Ed Conference

October 28, 2008. Chatsworth, CA – Educators from the western U.S. and throughout the nation explored the latest trends in teaching with technology during the Innovative Learning Conference (ILC) 2008, held at the San Jose Convention Center, October 14-16.

“Our inaugural conference, produced in association with CUE, was an outstanding first-year event, with engaged, enthusiastic educators,” said ILC Executive Director Mike Eason. “Attendees enjoyed an exceptional few days of professional development, taking part in workshops and sessions that were cutting-edge in their content and practical in their “use-it-today” ideas and approach.”
Colette Cassinelli, ILC presenter, attendee and high school computer teacher from Beaverton, Oregon, reflected on her experiences in her blog: “ILC 2008 was a great conference. I met a lot of 'virtual’ friends and was inspired to try some new things in my classroom to better meet the learning needs of my students."
ILC 2008 featured expert speakers and respected thought leaders in education and technology. Keynote speaker Danny Forster, host of “Build it Bigger” on the Discovery Channel, was a particular favorite of attendees, capturing their imagination with his approach to learning through unconventional methods. The conference also featured an exhibit hall where more than 100 of the nation’s leading solution providers demonstrated the latest innovations in classroom technology.

“The Innovative Learning Conference was a rare opportunity to meet and network with educators from across the country and around the world in a relaxed environment,” said Hall Davidson, Director, Discovery Educator Network. “Great speakers, great topics—the right people were in the room and the entire conference had impact. I had memorable conversations with educators from Florida, Australia, and Latin America. ILC is now on my permanent list of conferences.”

The 2009 conference will be held again in San Jose, and the October dates will be announced soon.

ILC 2008 was produced by CUE and FETC. FETC, a division of the 1105 Media Education Group, is owned by 1105 Media, a leading provider of integrated information and media in targeted business-to-business markets.
