Texas District Moves to Web-Based SIS

Aldine Independent School District, located in the northern section of Houston, TX, has announced it will implement Pearson's Chancery SMS as its new student information system (SIS).

The school has stated its desire to migrate from its current SASI system, also from Pearson, to a Web-based service in order to benefit from the technological enhancements available with such a service.

"We look forward to moving from DB4 format to SQL," said Candice Moore, AISD executive director of student services. "We also look forward to having all of our data in one installation for the ease of upgrades, the centralization of records, and other processes that are key to large districts' student data management systems."

Under a program designed to help current SASI users upgrade with ease and minimal expense, AISD will have access to Chancery SMS with no additional license fees. The district expects to complete its implementation of the new system in July 2010.
