VA District Overhauls Administrative Systems
Fairfax County, VA, has selected a package of solutions provided by SAP to streamline the administrative responsibilities of its county government and public school system.
In order to improve activities such as financial reporting, purchasing, budgeting, and payroll, as well as to implement optimally efficient operations, known as compliance best practices, the municipality has purchased the company's ERP Financials solution, ERP Human Capital Management solution, and Procurement for Public Sector package.
Efforts to conserve resources, especially government time and the money it costs taxpayers, led the county to seek out a solution that would cover all of its data-related needs and at the same time streamline all of its administrative operations for optimal integration and efficiency. The ERP Financials offers a full range of accounting and reporting capabilities, including financial supply chain, treasury, compliance, and performance management applications. The ERP HCM software covers all the processes essential to human resources management, including employee administration, payroll, and legal reporting. And the PPS package is a complete management system for the purchasing activities of public sector organizations.
"In addition to achieving high student achievement goals, FCPS has an economic imperative to provide our services efficiently," said Maribeth Luftglass, assistant superintendent and CIO, Fairfax County Public Schools. "The new system will provide increased capacity for data and cost analysis, streamlined functions, and greater flexibility that ultimately benefit how we educate our students."
FCPS is the largest district in Virginia, serving more than 173,000 students in 197 schools and facilities and employing a staff of more than 22,000.
