North Carolina Schools Join Effort To Boost Graduation Rates

Two schools in North Carolina--South Granville High and Scotland High--have joined a statewide initiative to help bring graduation rates to 100 percent.

The initiative, Redesigned Schools 2.0, was launched in September as a joint effort between Cisco, Intel, SAS, the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, the North Carolina New Schools Project (NCNSP), and the two school districts.

The Redesigned Schools 2.0 initiative provided faculty with 150 MacBooks, SAS OnDemand for attendance and enrollment, SAS EVAAS for student assessment, and support for online connectivity.

"This project will help us level the playing field for our students and is another important step toward improved educational outcomes for all," said Superintendent Rick Stout of Scotland County Schools in a prepared statement.

Redesigned Schools 2.0 was based on the North Carolina 1:1 Learning Technology Initiative pilot effort.
