Pittsburgh Charter School To Test Project TEACH
Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh Charter School (ULGPCS) has will beta test a new Web-based classroom management suite called Project TEACH (Together Everyone ACHieves) during the second half of the 2009-2010 school year.
An Internet-based set of tools developed by Danelo Education Solutions, Project TEACH is a suite of tools that's designed to help users in three key areas of classroom management: teacher time management, student performance, and parental involvement. The tools, which can be accessed from any computer with Internet access, include:
- Lesson plan preparation;
- Assigning homework;
- Grade calculation and tracking;
- Analysis of student performance using the Danelo's proprietary method;
- Customized recommendations for addressing deficiencies; and
- Parental access to data, allowing parents to track classwork and assignments and monitor students' needs and progress.
"The efficiencies that can be gained by using Project TEACH will allow our teachers to spend less time on administrative duties and more time helping students excel," explained Gail Edwards, principal and CEO of ULGPCS. "In addition, by improving channels of communication between parents and school staff, it becomes easier for parents to get more involved in their child's education."
Danelo said it's shooting for a general release date for Project TEACH in time for the 2010-2011 school year. "Based on user feedback that we receive during the beta test program, we will add functionality to the product that enhances the user experience and provides additional student information," said company president Daniel Gonzalez.
