CARD Launches Grant Program To Develop Autism Curriculum

The Center for Autism and Related Disorders has launched a new grant program to help schools develop curricula for students with autism.

The new program, Skills 4 America, will provide one-year scholarships for Skills, an online program for designing and assessing curricula for students with autism and other developmental disorders.

Skills allows parents, teachers, and other professionals to create individual lesson plans and treatment, and to track a student's development and evaluate progress and treatment over time. The program tracks eight areas of child development, including social, adaptive, and academic skills.

Other Skills features include:

  • Lesson plans, teaching guides, visual aids, worksheets, tracking forms, and individualized education plan goals and benchmarks;
  • Online support;
  • Skill acquisition tracking at the operant and activity level; and
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst mentorship for an additional fee.

To apply for a grant, schools must register at skills4america.com to attend a free 30-minute Skills Webinar on April 7 at 3:30 pm (EST). After the Webinar, attendees will be given a code and link to apply for the grant.
