2 California Districts Sign Up for College Career Prep Service

Two California districts have gone public with their use of a web-based service intended to promote student success and college and career readiness. Both Irvine Unified School District and San Ramon Valley Unified School District have adopted Naviance Succeed. This set of applications lets users do long-range course planning, explore post-secondary education options, and perform career planning by pulling data from multiple sources for setting goals, measuring outcomes, and promoting academic rigor.

"Tracking and managing student data is challenging, particularly given the range of constituents involved in recording it," said Rob Stockberger, director of secondary education at the San Ramon district. "Naviance Succeed streamlines information from students, families, and staff through a single, web-based tool, allowing the district to constantly drive and measure student success from a centralized system."

Both districts funded their subscriptions to the service through grant money. Other California customers for Naviance include Covina-Valley Unified, Modesto City Schools, and San Juan Unified, among others.

Naviance is a service of Hobsons, which also provides software for higher education.
