Hatch has launched the WePlaySmart learning environment for use with the Smart Table interactive learning center this week at the Florida Education Technology Conference (FETC) in Orlando.

Designed to promote "social and emotional school readiness through interaction during cognitive-skill-based games," according to information released by Hatch, the system includes more than 275 activities focused on developing problem solving, decision making, and collaboration skills.

The system uses a photo login and audio prompts to allow pre-readers to access it independently.

Designed to be used by two to four students at a time, the four areas of social and emotional development addressed by the system include:

  • Behavioral control;
  • Social competence;
  • Emotional control; and
  • Executive function.

WePlaySmart also features progress monitoring, periodic audio recordings of peer interaction, and both individual and class reports for use in parent conferences and administrative instructional support.

More information about the WePlaySmart learning environment is available at hatchearlychildhood.com and at FETC booth 223 through January 26.
