SchoolTutoring Steers Students through Science and Math

A company with a national tutoring service is testing out a new program it has developed specifically to help high school and college students who want to focus on disciplines in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). SchoolTutoring Academy uses a proprietary online platform to connect students with trained tutors in multiple academic topics.

According to Nathan Arora, a vice president for Educators Group, which runs SchoolTutoring, the new offering is receiving a positive response from early adopter parents and students. STEM tutoring focuses on math and science.

With the service, the students work one-on-one with STEM-focused tutors through an online platform that can use two-way audio, video, and a recordable whiteboard. The application provides functions for students and parents to track academic progress, receive text message reminders of upcoming tutoring sessions, and communicate with instructors asynchronously through a secure message center linked to an e-mail account. Users can also upload documents from screenshots off their mobile device to work on with their tutors as well.

"We surveyed parents and identified key pain points that prevented busy parents from seeking prep services and identified targeted solutions to address them," said Arora.

Tutoring is available seven days a week. The service is sold as a monthly subscription. A once-a-week program, for example, is $129.99 per month; a high school program for students who need "intensive" tutoring on multiple topics is $199.99.
