Advanced Academics Takes ROADS System Mobile with iOS App

Advanced Academics, online learning provider for grades 6-12, has launched an iOS app to integrate mobile capabilities into their learning management software suite, ROADS (Robust Online Academic Delivery System).

The app will enable students enrolled in Advanced Academics online programs to access their grades, post to discussion boards, and get instant assistance from teachers via an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. An Android version of the app is under development.

Features of the ROADS app include:

  • Virtual whiteboard for instructor illustration of concepts;
  • Instant messaging for student access to certified teachers 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday;
  • Classmail for mobile access and response to e-mail messages from instructors and other students; and
  • Classroom feature that allows students to check grades or read and respond to discussion threads for their classes.

"The ROADS app gives students increased flexibility by being able to access grades and other important data from a smartphone or tablet, as well as a personal computer," said Advanced Academics President Robert York, in a company release. "Unlike many other online learning apps, ROADS goes beyond simple quizzes or rote math and science facts to connect students with caring, experienced teachers who can help them during critical learning moments."

The ROADS app can be downloaded from the iTunes app store. To download, users must be actively enrolled in a school that uses the Advanced Academics ROADS learning management system.
