Lightspeed Systems Launches Mobile Learning Essentials at FETC

Lightspeed Systems has unveiled a package of software programs and services at Florida Education Technology Conference (FETC) 2013 to help school districts implement mobile learning. Lightspeed Systems Mobile Learning Essentials, available now, includes a collaborative learning platform, software for filtering and mobile management, and device configuration services.

Lightspeed Systems Mobile Learning Essentials consists of Lightspeed Systems Rockets, Mobile Manager, My Big Campus, and Device Configuration Services.

Lightspeed Systems Rockets, which integrates with learning platform My Big Campus, provides content filtering for desktop computers and mobile devices. It allows for customizable policies based on domain, organizational unit, group, IP, or user and provides control over P2P applications, https sites, and proxies. In addition, Lightspeed Systems Rockets includes custom reporting, as well as e-mail and power management.

Mobile Manager allows school districts to assign levels of administration and set targeted policies for districts, schools, classrooms, groups, and devices. It provides a single portal to manage installations, updates, inventory, and reporting. Mobile Manager, which integrates with the Apple Volume Purchasing Plan, also includes remote configuration, device wiping, and locking. Through integration with My Big Campus, Mobile Manager provides tools for teachers and information technology staff to lock down devices and deploy applications.

My Big Campus is a social network, learning management system, and content management system. The Facebook-style social network allows students to share photos or documents, links, library items, and more. It allows students to create a profile, maintain a calendar, and have conversations about schoolwork in online groups. My Big Campus also lets students store files in the cloud, and keep track of their schoolwork and progress. For teachers, My Big Campus also provides tools to set up calendars, class resources, assignments, videos, and announcements. In addition, EduTalk provides a place for teachers to share and collaborate with peers online.

Device Configuration Services provides unboxing, activation, asset tagging, district name/logo engraving, pre-loading of software, settings pre-configuration, enrollment in Lightspeed Systems MDM, and creation of Apple IDs and other accounts. It integrates with Lightspeed Systems' Mobile Learning Essentials software programs.

Representatives from Lightspeed Systems can be found at booth No. 944 at FETC.
