New Caney ISD Chooses Integrated ERP for District Management

Texas-based New Caney Independent School District has announced board approval to replace its current finance, human resources, and student information system (SIS) with a centralized enterprise resource planning (ERP) system designed to link all of its district operations.

For the project, the district selected Prologic Technology Systems' Total Education Administrative Management Solution (TEAMS), a Web-based system that offers a streamlined approach to data management. Designed specifically to meet the needs of K-12 education, TEAMS links the district's financial, human resources, and student data into a single, centralized database.

Real-time data integration allows authorized users to access and analyze student information as soon as it is entered into the system and simplifies collaboration between teachers, students, administrators, and parents. For instance, attendance, assignments, and report card grades entered by teachers can also be viewed by parents.

Key system functions include:

  • A global data management tool that can analyze and manage a district-wide budget, including Inventories, accounts receivable and payable, and payroll;
  • A human resource module that includes managing everything from job announcements to employee benefits and work schedules; and
  • An SIS student management module with enrollment, grading, transcript, and demographics reporting features and a schedule builder.

"Prologic simply has the most integrated system in terms of connecting student and finance into a single database, with the best support and price package," said Dustin Hardin, director of technology for New Caney ISD, in a prepared statement.

Located 30 miles northeast of Houston in East Montgomery County, Texas, New Caney Independent School District serves the communities of Porter, New Caney, and Kingwood. The district has about 11,500 students in nine elementary schools, two middle schools, and three high schools, one of which is an alternative education center. The district's operating budget for 2012-2013 is estimated at $18 million.
