New BenQ Projector Supports BYOD

BenQ America has introduced the MW665, a DLP projector designed for bring-your-own-device environments. Boasting WXGA resolution, 3,200 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 13,000:1 contrast ratio, the MW665 offers LAN display and control as well as wireless connectivity. Participants can use the BenQ QPresenter Pro app to collaborate and share documents, photos and Web content directly from their mobile devices or wirelessly to the projector in 2D or 3D. In addition, the device's USB and Office Viewer allows users to plug in their USB drives for PC-less presentations.
With the projector's SmartEco mode, the MW665 can automatically adjust lamp power by up to 70 percent, to balance brightness and picture quality — extending lamp life to up to 10,000 hours. To further reduce power consumption, an Eco Blank mode allows presenters to blank out the screen whenever projection isn't needed, and a No Source Detected mode automatically lowers brightness to 30 percent when no signal has been detected for more than three minutes. For periods of inactivity, Standby mode lowers power consumption to less than 0.5W.
HDMI, D-sub, USB, miniUSB and RJ45 ports enable inputs from several sources, and sound capabilities include a microphone slot, audio in and out jacks and 2W speakers.
On the back end, LAN control enables remote monitoring and control directly from an administrator's workstation. The MW665 also provides support for AMX, Crestron and PJLink systems. Audio and video signals are carried to the projector via a single LAN cable. Horizontal and vertical keystone calibration provides installation flexibility.
