12 Florida Districts Intro National Geographic Reading Program

Twelve Florida counties are adopting new ELA reading programs from National Geographic Learning for their middle and high school students.

national geographic learning inside ela programMiami-Dade, Broward, and Hillsborough counties' districts, some of the largest in the state, have adopted the company’s Inside and Edge programs alongside nine others statewide. Inside, the middle school curriculum, is designed to help students learn concepts specific to Florida’s language arts standards. The high school curriculum works on college and career readiness goals.

In both programs, students work their way through materials from the National Geographic Society, which along with partner Cengage is responsible for National Geographic Learning, the company behind the curriculum. Students also "draw on the real-world accounts of National Geographic explorers, scientists, writers, and photographers," according to the company.

"We are excited to begin this new school year with an array of new National Geographic Learning resources available to our students," said Dr. Sylvia Diaz, Assistant Superintendent, Miami-Dade School District in a statement. "We have vetted many resources, and believe that these reading and language arts programs that we have chosen from NGL are the best available to prepare our students for educational success."
