Thesys International Develops Blended-Learning Curriculum for ELLs

Thesys International has launched a new blended-learning curriculum for English language learners (ELLs) in grades six to 12. According to the company, the curriculum, called ELLoquence, is aligned to the Common Core and WIDA standards and is designed for use in classrooms with multiple ELLs at varying levels of English proficiency, from basic through to advanced. Although it's a digital curriculum, it also includes hands-on activities. The curriculum covers science, social studies and English literature.

ELLoquence uses the communicative language teaching method to teach reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The method is designed to help students learn language through speaking and writing activities, such as expressing their opinions or solving problems.

Thesys provides teachers with "online access to course content, assessments and support from a teacher mentor and help desk," according to a news release from the company. Teachers can also customize the curriculum by adding their own learning activities to meet the needs of ELLs in their classroom.
