NEC Launches New Budget-Friendly Projector Models

NEC Display Solutions has introduced two new projectors, the VE303 and VE303X, intended as low-cost alternatives, that are designed for use in rooms with ambient light.

Both projectors feature a brightness of 3,000-lumen. The VE303 has a resolution of 800 x 600 and the VE303X has a resolution of 1,024 x 768. The projectors will have an estimated price of $339 and $419, respectively.

Both models come with quick power-on and image displays, vertical keystone correction and zoom lenses. They automatically sense incoming signals and can be connected to command-and-control systems. 3D sources can also be viewed with the aid of DLP-Link glasses.

Other features of the new VE303 and VE303X include:

  • 10,000:1 contrast ratio;
  • Up to 6,000 hours of lamp life;
  • Acceptance of incoming resolutions up to 1,920 x 1,080;
  • One-button source change and menu access via a remote control;
  • Digital and analog video inputs;
  • A 2-watt built-in speaker with low fan noise; and
  • A weight of less than six pounds.

"The units' 3,000 lumens of brightness overcome rooms with a lot of ambient light," said Bob Guenther, senior product manager of projectors at NEC Display, "and their long lamp life and lower power consumption in standby modes contribute to an affordable TCO [total cost of operation]."

Each projector has a two-year limited parts and labor warranty and education customers can also receive a two-year warranty on the lamp.
