itslearning Reveals Personalized LMS

The Norway-based company is launching a new, more personalized learning management platform.

itslearning has unveiled a new release of its cloud-based learning management system. Scheduled to launch on July 1, the LMS will offer an improved user interface, live messaging system, upgraded library of resources, student profile cards and mobile compatibility.

“Our main focus with this new platform is enhancing the user experience,” said Arne Bergby, CEO of itslearning, in a prepared statement. “So we’ve done a great deal of research to understand what our users are really trying to do when they use our platform. And we’ve tested and rebuilt the platform so that educators can more easily carry out their core tasks and get support from a system that is truly intuitive and doesn’t complicate their work but rather puts the focus on student learning outcomes.”

The main menu includes streamlined navigational features that make important items, such as courses and students, easy for teachers to find. Users will also notice new “system wizards” that will explain how each feature works.

Aiming to act as an extension of the classroom, the new platform helps teachers organize tasks, listing upcoming events on their calendar and a sidebar list. The bulletin system for course communications is simplified and allows teachers to easily embed links and content for students, who can reply from their own homepages. A new in-platform instant messaging system assists with teacher-student communication and collaboration among all users.

The new platform will feature a one-click access to information on all students and provides a quick overview of students’ recent activities. The new Student page can create profile cards for each student that present additional information. In addition, the library of third-party, teacher-created resources has been expanded to more than 20 million items and more than 5 million open educational resources. Lastly, the platform is responsive on mobile accessories.

itslearning is exhibiting at the ISTE 2016 convention in booth 1541. Further information is available on the itslearning site.
