McGraw-Hill Education Acquires Digital Personalized Learning Provider

Textbook publisher McGraw-Hill Education has acquired a provider of digital personalized learning solutions for K–12 math, language arts and writing.

Redbird Advanced Learning was built on 25 years of research at Stanford University. The company’s adaptive learning solutions are designed to provide a personalized educational experience that supports each student’s individual pace and comprehension level. Its digital curriculum features web-based courses with “the latest in adaptive instruction, gamification and digital project-based learning,” according to the company’s website.

“Hundreds of thousands of students have benefitted from Redbird’s innovative digital education solutions,” said Matthew Mugo Fields, founder and CEO of Redbird, in a statement. “Now, by becoming part of McGraw-Hill Education, we can accelerate the learning process for even more students, helping them excel in the classroom and beyond.”

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but Redbird is the fourth technology company that McGraw-Hill Education has acquired since 2013, “marking the company’s evolution from a traditional textbook publisher to a digitally-focused learning science company,” according to a statement from the company.
