Nureva Adds Screen Sharing to Span Classroom Collaboration Software

Nureva, a collaboration solutions company, had added screen sharing capabilities within its Span collaboration system.

Teachers and students can combine the Span interactive solid-state-illumination projector with the software to display a shared digital canvas onto a wall or any large surface. The cloud-based software enables users to add notes, texts, boxes, images and more to the canvas; it is available as iOS and Android apps, as well as on Chrome and Safari browsers.

Now, with the software update, multiple live screens can be shared within a single canvas. A team of students working on a group project can, for example, use the feature to instantly share a video on their device’s screen. The feature is best used when there are less than four devices sharing the Span canvas, according to a statement from Nureva.

In New York, Northern Parkway Elementary School recently installed the Span system in a hallway to make use of the limited space. “One of the primary goals of the implementation was to be able to enable collaborative teams to work together more effectively,” the statement said. Fourth grade students tested out the system for math and reading classes, as well as project-based learning work. (To see how the school is using Span, watch the video below.)

“It’s been a really wonderful opportunity to think critically and creatively and do something different for our learners,” said Sheilah Jefferson-Isaac, Northern Parkway’s assistant principal, in the statement. “We’ve seen that learning does not have to take place in a traditional classroom and the Span system allows learning to happen all around us, literally.”

Nureva will be exhibiting in booth 1248 at the annual ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) conference taking place next week (July 25-28) in San Antonio, TX. The Journal will be exhibiting in booth 754 at ISTE 2017.
