Curriki Adds Oracle Academy Comp Sci Workshops

Curriki, a nonprofit provider of open educational resources (OER), has added new workshops from Oracle Academy.

Oracle Academy is Oracle's computer science education program, offering workshops designed to be fun and engaging. Featuring practices such as project-based learning and tools for assessment, the workshops are designed primarily to introduce students to computer science, to incorporate computer science into other subjects or to offer a computer science introduction through extracurricular activities or workshop settings.

Aimed primarily at students in high school, Oracle Academy workshops include:

  • Getting Started with Java Using Alice;
  • Solve It With SQL;
  • Programming the Finch Robot in Java;
  • Programming the Finch Robot in Greenfoot; and
  • Creating Java Programs with Greenfoot.

"STEM education is so important in today's global marketplace, and Oracle Academy is an invaluable partner to Curriki because its workshops make computer science fun and accessible," said Kim Jones, CEO of Curriki, in a prepared statement. "What could inspire more passion for STEM in students than Oracle's interactive approach, which gives them the opportunity to build robots, roleplay superheroes, create video games and so much more?"
