Flipped Learning Global Launches Lesson Planning Credential

Flipped Learning Global Initiative has just gone live with a new credential in its series of certifications for educators interested in becoming flipped learning experts. The Certified Lesson Planning Specialist is a set of online courses designed for teachers who want to see what flipped classes look like and hear from other educators about the reasons for their instructional choices.

There are about four hours of content delivered by 13 experts, including the founder of the organization, John Bergmann. The course has 10 class tours of flipped classes and downloadable templates to help participants "speed up" their planning. Those who finish the 14 sets of lessons receive the credential.

Flipped is a mode of instruction in which students spend a bit of time outside of the classroom getting ready for a specific lesson (typically, by watching videos) then come prepared to do active learning activities during class. The organization maintains a list of standards by which to ensure that the instruction adheres to best practice and provides paid training programs. According to its research, 16 percent of U.S. teachers are flipping their classes and another 35 percent want to learn how.

The latest certification joins three other credentials offered by FLGI:

The newest course is $69 for three months of access and $89 for a year's worth of access.
