LEGO Introduces Audio and Braille Building Instructions

The LEGO Group is debuting a pilot to make LEGO sets more accessible for those with vision impairments with LEGO Audio and Braille Building Instructions.  The instructions are now available in English through an accessible website and they include a set from LEGO Classic, LEGO CITY, LEGO Friends and LEGO Movie 2.

The instructions were created using an artificial intelligence software that translates LEGO Exchange Format Mel Script from visual instructions to text-based descriptions for braille and voice commanded instructions. Feedback from the pilot instructions will be collected until the end of 2019 and the LEGO Group expects to launch more Audio and Braille instructions during the first half of 2020.

The new pilot comes four months after the LEGO Group introduced LEGO Braille Bricks, which is an initiative to help young children with vision impairments learn to read Braille.
