SC District Upgrades to Newer Boxlight Interactive Flat Panels

A South Carolina school district has chosen to deploy new interactive flat panel displays in its classrooms. Anderson School District One chose newer Boxlight displays to replace an existing set of Boxlight Mimio panels. The initial implementation will cover 150 ProColor displays, with the expectation of installing about 500 displays throughout the district over the next year. The installation work is being handled by Howard Technology Solutions, chosen through a bid process.

The ultra-high definition Android displays for the school system are sized 65 or 75 inches and include MimioStudio, whiteboard software for the classroom that lets teachers create interactive lessons and run short assessments on the displays. The program includes a gradebook that records responses to the quizzes and can open other programs, such as PowerPoint. The panels feature up to 20 single-touch points or 10 dual-touch for gestures, allowing multiple students to work side-by-side.

"The district will be adding two new middle schools and adding new wings to many other schools--so standardizing on our Boxlight panels will support their initiative to transform all of their classrooms into powerful, technology-rich learning environments," said Boxlight CEO, Mark Elliott, in a statement.

According to the district, those new schools will have classrooms outfitted with "teaching walls," where lessons can be projected.
