A
nonprofit that helped introduce the concept of social-emotional
development into education has teamed up with an educational
technology company to update its software. The Center
for the Collaborative Classroom
recently began working with Werkz
Publishing
to enhance CCC Access Pro, the Center's mobile app for its Learning
Portal.
Since
its founding in 1980, the center has evolved into a consultative
organization that produces programs and books for helping teachers
become facilitators in helping children gain social-emotional and
other skills. The Learning Portal was launched last year to help
teachers corral and manage program resources and student
"reproducibles," create and share digital assessments and
reports and get communications, updates and instructional pacing
notifications. The portal also offers a dashboard for viewing
district data at varying levels of granularity.
The
Werkz Publishing platform, PageWerkz,
is intended to facilitate the conversion of print content to digital,
including building in interactivity; it also include learning
management functionality for scheduling and distributing content.
The
Center's mobile app, which has both iOS
and Android
editions, hosts digital versions of all printed manuals and their
components. The updated version offers an improved user interface and
a new note-taking function that works across devices, letting
educators access materials and previously entered notes across their
devices. Also, teachers can access their materials in online and
offline mode and do searches on what they need on the run.
The
updates were done using PageWerkz, whose use "made it easy for
us to transform written materials into digital books that can be
quickly distributed to teachers everywhere, helping us to deliver
education resources on best-in-class technology," said the
center's Chief Technology Officer, Tim Millen, in a statement.
"PageWerkz integrates flawlessly with our proprietary learning
portal, protects our intellectual property and simplifies device
management."
