Pearson Acquires Mondly Online Language Learning Platform

Digital learning company Pearson today announced it has acquired language-learning platform Mondly, providing a path for Pearson to add self-study to its line of instructional and assessment solutions, according to a news release.

Mondly which offers courses in English and 40 other languages, ranks among the Top 5 language-learning apps by number of downloads, according to Stastica. Its lessons are also offered on its website and through Mondly virtual reality and augmented reality products. Mondly’s portfolio includes an enterprise product called MondlyWORKS and a kids’ language app called MondlyKIDS.

Pearson said in a news release that it expects the acquisition to accelerate revenue growth beginning in 2023. The Mondly team, including the founders, will join Pearson's English Language Learning division, Pearson said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
