Oct. 1, 2022, is the deadline to apply for the National Society of High School Scholars’ Educator of the Year Awards, with grant funds of $5,000 for the top award and nine finalist awards of $1,000 apiece.
The NSHSS Educator of the Year Awards are presented annually to “exemplary educators who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to preparing students for success in college and in life … and who model best practices in teaching or administration inside and outside of the classroom, are peer role models, and demonstrate outstanding leadership and excellence in education,” according to the NSHSS website.
The awards are open to any high school teacher currently employed at a public or private high school in the United States.
The application process requires a “prompt response” of 800-1,000 words to the question: “What is your teaching philosophy? Describe in detail your passion for education and its impact on you.” NSHSS encourages applicants to also upload photos, videos, or links to media showing the educator’s leadership in action. Also required to apply is a color headshot, a resume, and a letter of recommendation from a principal or administrator.
Learn more and apply at the Educator of the Year Awards page at the NSHSS website. Applications close at 11:59 p.m. ET on Oct. 1.
