First Substitute Teacher Management Symposium Coming in January

K–12 substitute teacher management company Red Rover Technologies will hold its first substitute management one-day online symposium (SMS) on Jan. 24, 2023. Registration is free if completed on or before Dec. 15, 2022, but will cost $120 thereafter. The SMS will bring together K–12 administrators, managers, and others to share insights on challenges facing schools in finding, training, and retaining highly qualified substitute teachers in an existing climate of staffing shortages, compounded by the pandemic.

Topics will include substitute recruitment, training, and management. The keynote speaker will be Jay Midwood, chief of human capital for the Central Falls School District in Central Falls, RI. He was featured in the book “Substantial Classrooms: Redesigning the Substitute Teaching Experience.” Attendees can also look forward to networking with fellow human resources professionals, earning credit hours toward pHCLE certification, and learning about emerging trends. Other speakers include Kelly Coash-Johnson, executive director of the American Association of School Personnel Administrators; Jessie Weiser, chief operating officer at Substantial Classrooms; and Geoffrey Smith, president and CEO of the Substitute Teaching Division at STEDI.org. Visit Red Rover’s SMS page to learn more and register for this event.

Red Rover Technologies offers employee absence and attendance management solutions to over 600 K–12 school districts.
