SchoolStatus Acquires Email Newsletter Company Smore and Expands K–12 Products

Education communications, analytics, and workflow platform company SchoolStatus has acquired email newsletter company Smore in its entirety. The acquisition will expand SchoolStatus’s offerings to K–12 institutions, with Smore’s email newsletter communications designed to integrate easily with SchoolStatus’s existing products, or be used separately.

Although the acquisition includes Smore's operations, technology, and team of Tel Aviv and US-based employees, Smore will operate independently under its own brand, and its current users will continue to have access to the products they use, SchoolStatus said. SchoolStatus’s platform includes a student information system, attendance programs, a learning management system, state and local assessments, benchmarks, communication metrics, and teacher professional development tools. The addition of Smore’s email newsletter products will bring a suite of easy templates for school administrators, teachers, and other personnel to use to communicate with parents.

"Email newsletters are the most prevalent vehicle used by educators and communication directors to share class, school, and district information with members of their school's community,” said Russ Davis, founder and CEO of SchoolStatus. “To make newsletters easy and enjoyable to create means that communication will take place more often and stakeholders will be more informed. That’s a win-win.”

SchoolStatus is a fully-integrated data analytics and communications platform designed to drive better student outcomes through comprehensive data and parent engagement. Visit its “How It Works” page to learn more.

Smore is used by over 1 million educators in 10,000 schools and districts in the United States, including over 70% of the school districts in North America. View some examples of its newsletter templates on this page.
