FullBloom Acquires EmpowerU to Expand School Mental Health Services

Education and behavioral health solutions company FullBloom has acquired EmpowerU, a data-driven provider of support for students struggling with non-academic barriers to success. The merger is expected to expand FullBloom's services to enhance student outcomes, the company said, while reducing the strain on schools' limited financial resources.

EmpowerU brings its Tier 1 teacher-led mental health curriculum and Tier 2 individual counseling supports to Pre–K–12 through adult levels. EmpowerU uses a proprietary online platform to provide services from master's level coaches to help students struggling with "non-academic barriers to success," the company said.

School counselors can monitor student progress from start to finish through a dashboard with real time, full data reports and insights with Prochaska/DiClemente Transtheoretical Model of Change.

"Student mental health challenges are not going away just because the pandemic has faded," said Tim Hickey, FullBloom's chief marketing officer. "A lot has been made of learning loss — and rightfully so — but until we address non-academic barriers to learning, we face an uphill battle. EmpowerU gives students the tools they need to build grit and resilience to become confident learners. We are thrilled to have EmpowerU as part of the FullBloom family."
