Iteach Bringing AI to Teacher Curriculum via Khanmigo Partnership

Users of the iteach educator certification platform now have access to the Khanmigo AI teaching assistant at no additional cost.

In addition, iteach is making AI training a mandatory part of its six-course educational foundation module. Teachers will learn both how to use AI to lighten and streamline their workloads, as well as how to teach their students about responsible AI use.

The moves are the result of a new partnership between Khan Academy, which distributes the Khanmigo platform, and iteach, an alternative certification program that's used at 1,550 school districts across 14 states.

Officials from the two companies are positioning the integration as boon for both teachers, who would benefit from using AI to reduce the time they spend on repetitive tasks, and students, many of whom are already using AI but need guidance to use it more effectively and responsibly.

"AI is no longer the future; it's the present," said iteach President Andrew Rozell. "Teachers need to know how to use it themselves and how to teach their students appropriate applications of AI tools."

"Through this partnership, Khanmigo will equip aspiring iteach educators with their own personal teaching assistant," added Kristen DiCerbo, Khan Academy's chief learning officer. "When they enter the classroom as credentialed teachers, they'll be able to put AI to use to streamline prep and focus on spending quality time with students."
