Firm Enhances CU-SeeMe Product

Enhanced CU-SeeMe provides real-time person-to-person or group videoconferencing over the Internet or any TCP/IP network. It uses a unique protocol, developed at Cornell University, to manage, receive and rebroadcast video and audio data. CU-SeeMe achieves low bandwidth Internet connections through software-only algorithms that reduce data transmission. It d'es not require expensive hardware compression/decompression (codec) boards. White Pine's Reflector technology allows up to 100 CU-SeeMe clients to "meet" on a single UNIX workstation to chat or collaborate on projects via an online whiteboard. The Participant Window displays a list of visible users, hidden users and "lurkers" (those who don't have a camera). A Caller ID box alerts one to incoming connections, while a Phone Book stores participant addresses and Reflector sites. CU-SeeMe can be launched directly from any Web page using a standard browser.
