Students "Sail" the Web & Learn

Class Afloat, from Tom Snyder Productions, is a unique Internet-based program that enables students in grades 3-9 to embark on a live, interdisciplinary learning adventure.

World geography, history and cultures come alive for students as they interact with the student crew aboard the tall ship, Concordia, on their voyage around the world.

By subscribing for either a fall or spring semester voyage, schools get access to the Web site (www.oceanchallenge.com), a bi-weekly newsletter, a teachers' guide, a Class Afloat world tracking map, a "Concordia Sails the World" video; and a Concordia classroom poster.

The program begins with students watching a 30-minute videotape introducing them to life on the Concordia. Then, while visiting the Web site and receiving the bi-weekly newsletter, they explore and discover faraway lands and people, current and historical events and more.
