Pa. High School Sports Sony Learning Systems

The School District of Lancaster, Pa., has selected Sony Electronics' LLC-9000 Language Learning Systems for a new state-of-the-art high school designed to prepare students for careers and advanced degrees in the 21st century.

At the new school, groups of students will work with teams of teachers to achieve curricular outcomes that meet guidelines set forth by Pennsylvania's Department of Education.

Seven LLC-9000 systems and various other Sony products have been installed in the school's "communications technology rooms," which also house other multimedia learning tools. Besides foreign language instruction, the equipment will be used for computer training and desktop publishing.

The LLC-9000 Language Learning System lets teachers combine traditional audiotapes with computer graphics as well as download information from CD-ROMs or the Internet to supplement class activities. Data can be transferred instantly from the instructor's screen to students', and vice versa.

The new school, McCaskey East High School, officially opens in September 1997. Sony Electronics, Business and Professional Group, Montvale, NJ, (800) 472-SONY.
