Java SW Handles ActiveX, Beans, SQL

Code-named ìJato,î this new development tool for Java from Sybase was designed to ìflattenî the learning curve of Java, enabling rapid application development.

ìJatoî is a component-centric development environment. It fully supports both JavaBeans and ActiveX components, integrating them seamlessly via drag-and-drop programming.

To build and test database applications, the package includes Sybaseís SQL Anywhere+ database. Also included is a full thin-client Java Data base Connectivity (JDBC) implementation; this provides developers with native database access in a multi-tiered Internet environment.

A variety of wizards, such as one for Parameters, aid initial users. With more experience, developers will exploit the programís integrated capabilities of in-context debugging within the browser, a large library of components and classes, a visual SQL editor, and seven different views of navigation.

ìJatoî may be downloaded from the firmís Web site. Sybase, Inc., Emeryville, CA, (800) 8-SYBASE, www.sybase.com.
