Environmental SW Gets 'Codie' Award

The Software Publishers Association presented its Excellence in Software Award (Codie) to Tom Snyder Productionsí Rainforest Researchers for Best Curriculum Software for Middle School. Over 900 programs in 35 categories were nominated this year.

Designed for grades 5-8, the CD-ROM covers topics such as biodiversity, threats to the rainforest and the challenges of preserving this ecosystem. Using one or more computers, students work in teams to solve scientific problems. The package includes an introductory videotape, 28 student expert books and a teacherís guide with hands-on activities.

Featuring original video footage from Indonesia, Rainforest Researchers was produced in association with the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University.
