Five Students Win Invest Scholarships

Invest Learning, a leading publisher of basic skills software for adolescents and adults, has announced the five winners of its inaugural Student Scholarship Program. The students will receive a $500 scholarship to the college or vocational program of their choice.

One scholarship winner, Angie Morris, used Invest Learning courseware to prepare for the GED at the Carthage Adult Basic Education Program in Missouri. Other winners are Debra Hartley, a former student at Bakersfield Learning Center in Bakersfield, Calif., Karla Zarate, who graduated with honors from Desert Oasis High School in El Centro, Calif., and Shalle Zirkle, who spent time at the Davis Center Juvenile Correctional Facility in Davis, W. The fifth winner, an abused woman from Coolidge, Ariz., who asked not to be identified, credits the courseware with building her confidence and putting her on a promising career path. Each institution with a winning student will receive one year of hotline support services from Invest Learning.
