Industry Leaders Promote Learning Beyond the Classroom

In order to enhance learning at home and improve academic and computer skills, Jostens Learning and Dell Computer Corp. have launched Take Home Connection. This program partners school personnel with students and families to help create positive, home-learning experiences and extend classroom instruction into the home.

Dell will provide service and support for Latitude laptop computers that may be customized according to the school's needs. Jostens Learning will offer their newest core curriculum, Tomorrow's Promise, which includes more than 30 CD-ROMs for reading, spelling, language arts, mathematics, science, pre-algebra and algebra.

The Take Home Connection program includes a Home Guide for parents and students on how to set up the computer and use the curriculum software successfully. The School Guide has step-by-step instructions and complete information for teachers and other school personnel on establishing and managing a take-home program. Additionally, there are curriculum supplements by grade and subject, as well as a variety of optional hardware, headsets, modems and support services.

With Take Home Connection, "Students are able to extend their learning day, teachers gain additional tools for individualized instruction, and families can better support their children's learning," said Dr. Terry Crane, president of Jostens Learning Corp. Jostens Learning Corp., San Diego, CA, (800) 244-0575, www.jostenslearning.com.
